I have earned over $200,000 as a freelance writer, most of it coming in the last couple of years. I took the plunge to freelance full-time four years ago and never looked back, but it wasn’t easy and it wasn’t low-risk. 

Before I went full-time on this venture, I spent five years learning the craft as a part-time freelance writer. Over that time, I had a lot of ups and downs, and learned a ton. My rates started at nothing ($10 per hour), and to be honest, it was never my plan to do this full-time. But life throws you curveballs. If I hadn’t ever started out freelancing for fun and loose change, it wouldn’t have been there when I needed it to provide for my family.
