The global freelance market is poised to break $450 billion next year. There are nearly sixty million freelancers in the U.S. alone.

But it isn't all that surprising that you have never heard of freelance writing before, or if you have, you aren't sure what it is.

You don't even need real-world experience or formal training in a market or discipline to become an expert in it.

There are two reasons why freelancers exist.

  1. They need a subject matter expert or technical authority on a specific topic.
  2. There's too much work to go around for the staff.

My only goal is to get you to your first dollar. My secondary goal is to get you your next dollar and recurring revenue streams after that. But right now, it is all about that first buck.

Writing what you know can be lucrative, depending on the demand. It has worked well for me, but if I could do it over, I would focus on one of the three main disciplines years ago.

Upwork is not necessarily the only way to break into freelancing, but it is certainly one of the most popular. Inside this book is the blueprint I've used to make an honest living, from my first client to my current full-time workload.
